Barcelona food is one of the best things about the city that makes it appealing to people all over the world. The vast amount of options available for eating is definitely one of the best in Spain and many people will travel from very far just to get a taste.

Barcelona food usually contains much of the four following ingredients.. garlic, tomato, olive oil and seafood! There are many ways to explore different Barcelona Food around the city. There are a lot of restaurants which will have a “menu del dia” option which will give you a taste of the evening dishes but only for a fraction of the price. You can usually find menu del dia around 2pm-4pm and they will be advertised outside of the restaurant. These dishes will change from day to day so it is a really good way of being able to try lots of different Barcelona Food’s at different restaurants without spending too much. The average price would be around 9euros for a meal, this also includes a glass of wine thrown in at most places.

Another way is Tapas. The plates are usually between 1,50euros and 2,50euros so are quite small but are great for sharing if there is three or four of you.

One place we recommend is Quimet Quimet which offer gourmet tapas for 2 euros each. The place is really small and nobody speaks english but i am sure that will not put you off when you see some of the foods they have there!

If you’re in Barcelona for longer than a couple of days, or if you live here, you may decide to try and cook some food for yourself. There are lots of great markets in Barcelona and with very fresh vegetables and herbs so even if you are not the best at cooking you cannot really go wrong and just the taste of the ingredients alone will shine through. For a first visit to Barcelona, we recommend checking out the biggest market Boqueria Market which is located in the centre of Las Ramblas.

The great thing about Barcelona food is that you dont need to have big meals to still be satisfied. There are amazing burger bars and sandwich shops around that are really tasty and will cost you less than 5 euros. The best sandwich shop in Barcelona has to be bo de b which is located in Barceloneta. These sandwiches are cooked while you wait with choices of lots of fresh vegetables and sauces. This is only to be attempted if you are really hungry! Even though it is only costing you 4 euros, do not consider it a snack!!
