Bicing bikes

If you´re new to Barcelona and wondering how your hands on one of those red bikes everybody seems to be riding around Barcelona on, here´s the way to do it..

First of all you need to be living in Spain, as you will need a N.I.E number to register. At the moment it is 35euros to join with Bicing, this gives you one year use of the bikes.

The site is only in Spanish or Catalan so for the English speakers amongst you, google translator is your friend! They will take the payment from you straight away and send your brand new bicing card out in the post to you within two weeks.

Using the bikes is pretty easy.. swipe your card against the black panel located underneath the map at the very end of all of the bikes. It will show on the screen which bike has been unlocked. Then the bike is yours to do as you wish with for 30minutes. You must return your bike to a free slot at any other bicing station within the 30minutes. Failure to return in time means they will charge you. At the moment the charge is 50cents for every half an hour for up to 2 hours.
